I mean really. (sticks and stones baby, sticks and stones)
Anyway. I came across this little gem last week actually, but with the crazy, crazy week and a half here in this household I just didn’t have the time to really delve into it.
So, without further ado, I’m delving.
Posted by the Republican National Committee facebook page (yes, I actually visited their site…held my breath…and am now hoping my computer doesn’t catch a Conservative virus or something):
“From December 26 through January 1, many families will take time to celebrate
African culture and history. Kwanzaa is a wonderful opportunity for all
of us to honor the importance of family and community, and it reminds
us of the great diversity in America. Happy Kwanzaa!”
I just can’t help but think this might be a mite bit too little too late. But that’s just little ol’ me and I’m just sayin’.
Since when does the Republican National Committee care about Kwanzaa? And what happened to all those Conservative values spoutin’ off about good ol’ Amurica and good ol’ rill Amurikans bein’ Christian and such? And that supposed “War on Christmas?”
Because I really don’t think you can have it both ways. I don’t. I really, really don’t. One minute you can’t be bemoaning the fact that there’s a downright, all-out, no-holds-barred, fisticuffs and bayonets War on Christmas and all those Christian values and beliefs that the very founders and framers of the Constitution of the United States based this country on (note: snark warning)…and the next minute decide you want to be touting and shouting from the mountaintops (or Facebook at least) your embrasure of diversity. I think you might have a teeny, eeny, itty, bitty bit of a problem with trying to play both sides of the board. Yes, I’m just sayin’.
And boy howdy you should check out that Facebook page. ALL sorts of crazy there. Actually, only one sort. Nearly every post I looked at before my eyeballs started hemorrhaging had to do with making fun of the President and using quite snarky snark to discuss him. Childish really. But then I don’t hang out at the Democratic National Committee site and maybe I should to see if the Democrats are speaking that way about Republican leaders. Maybe I’ll do just that and report back my findings.
In the interest of bipartisanship and being less divisive and such.
There is so much in the way of “current events” I’ve missed in the last week and a half as I’ve been buried in birthdays, Solstice celebrations, holidays, etc that it’s going to take me a bit to catch up. I’m sure I’ll be running into many things that accelerate the heartrate and make me truly crazy, loco, off-my-rocker insane and downright mad (mad as in ‘crazy’, in case those of you who don’t get satire might have thought all along I was meaning ‘angry’…don’t have much room for anger in my life these days as anger and resentment eat the soul from the inside out and life is simply too beautiful to live all eaten up on the inside…but I digress). Anyway, I’m sure there’ll be more things that will be screaming, just screaming, for some comment or opinion from little ol’ me, so I’ll be back. And if you are too, then welcome. If not, sayanora and have a lovely day.
